Websites- Animations gif/flash

Gif and Animations are a great way to give your website a bit of ummph
and interest. I was, however, quite surprised at the amount of websites offering very poor gif quality. It has taken longer to do this blog than any of the others due to the wading and surfing through page upon page of bad animations.

So far I have come up with a few of the better ones and I do hope to add more as I come across them in my internet travels.

http://www.bestanimations.com/ - not bad for content, ugly site and not overly extensive, but worth a search around.
http://www.gifanimations.com/animation/Index - again, a reasonable of graphics, but not huge.
http://www.gifmania.co.uk/ - better quality gif animations- little bright and blingy but ok. Lots of categories.
http://www.harrythecat.com/dorret/ - excellent site, a plethora of prancing pictures set within a well thought-out website. Easy to navigate and not distressing to the senses.
http://www.sevenoaksart.co.uk/ - nice site, no fuss and plenty to have a look at. There are also some fairly odd categories in case you may need a dancing boiled egg or a walking tin of spam for example.

Personal blog 1 - website building

Hi there,

This is a quick pitch to offer anyone my services in either building a personal website (with or without e-commerce) or a blogsite.

If you pop along to my website and like what you see, contact me from there and we can discuss what you would require.

I am not a professional web builder with a web team, I'm just someone that loves I.T and loves to build websites. With this in mind, I can guarantee my fees are much lower than most on the internet.

For 3 pages I will only charge £100, much lower than the £300-700 you'll find on other sites. If you want more pages then I'll do that too for an increased fee.

I can also offer a typing service. Are you someone that hates typing up notes, manuscripts, dictations? Then send them my way; my fees are very reasonable and the files can be sent to me either by e-mail, post, courier or my file transfer service.

Have you tried finding some clip-art for a document or for your website? Many a time I've needed that one little graphic just to set off my page and what I thought was going to be a simple quick exercise, turned out to be a mammoth irritating hunt.

So for all your creative bloggers out there, here are a few tried and tested sites that will not leave you pulling your hair out with the endless chasing of links or the continuous pop-ups, that have a tendency to get on your proverbial wick.

My criteria, for what I consider a 'good site' is this: reasonable amount of categories, no having to run off to other websites, good quality graphics and best of all ...free.

One thing I haven't really worried about is the overall design of the sites. I think if you want clip-art, you just want good graphics, whether it comes from an ugly website or a pretty one.

http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/clipart/default.aspx - not bad - plenty of categories and you can keep adding your clips to a basket until you want to download everything in one go.
http://www.hasslefreeclipart.com/ - does what it says on the tin
http://www.dorlingkindersley-uk.co.uk/static/cs/uk/11/clipart/ - great site, looks nice and pleasant to surf, lots of subjects and high grade graphics, worth a look – especially good for students.
http://www.fg-a.com/freeclipart.shtml - simple site offering lots of categories
http://www.freefever.com/freeclipart/ - no frills site, just white space and folder upon folder of clipart, a must to see, boasting 10,ooo clipart – a breath of fresh air.
http://www.freeclipartnow.com/ - 10 out of 10 for the amount of clipart but the website is very badly laid out; you have to scroll halfway down the page to find the clip art categories- still if you want clip art it is a worthy place to go.
http://resources.bravenet.com/clipart/ - clip art, web resources and tools.- need to join for some features.
http://www.barrysclipart.com/ - this is one of the better ones- plenty of choice.

Can you recommend anymore? Do you have a clipart site that you would like added?

Having surfed around on internet, searching out sites on aviation, I hope I can offer a few little tasty morsels that I came across.

So without further a do, here are my personal selections.

http://www.aeroseek.com/ - clean site, easy to use with lots of links for the aviation enthusiast.

http://www.flyer.co.uk/ - lots of information for anyone interested in aviation; pretty dreadful coloured website and a bit lopsided.
http://www.pilotweb.aero/ - nice site, specifically geared towards the pilot rather than enthusiast. Includes plenty features, blogs and forum for other high flyers.
http://www.cessna.com/ - looks minimalist but has maximum information.
http://www.cessna.org/ - a good site for Cessna owners, it deals with general information, services, safety information and social events.
http://www.iwantcessnaparts.com/ - and for when things go wrong – 165,000 parts available.
http://www.taildraggers.com/ - for those that like a challenge!
http://www.pprune.org/ - a site dedicated to aviation rumours. Helpful or not...not too sure?
http://www.planecrashinfo.com/ - for the more macabre taste.
http://www.flightschoollist.com/blog/ - this one is a must, full of aviation clips to watch.

Websites - The Earth

Hi there,

This is my first blog on websites. I love surfing the net and on my virtual travels I've come across a few gems that I thought I would share with you.

First off though, I am going to mention my website ( still new and being built so don't expect much yet), but I would love you to come along and have a chat, there is a forum, chatroom and a few blogs to comment on if you want to. Ok, with that shameless pitch out of the way, lol.. here are some excellent websites.

The first topic will be websites that deal with the Earth.

Coming in at number 1... is http://www.earth.google.com/ - a wonderful site that I'm sure most surfers have been to already, but if not, download it and fly around the world in a few clicks and drags.

Number 2...http://volcano.oregonstate.edu/ - a site that is not the best looking but there are some spectacular footage of erupting volcanoes and it is an educational site for kids or anyone with a general interest.

Number 3...http://www.hurricanehunters.com/ - need I say more! But I will...these mad people fly planes into hurricanes...rather them than me...but it makes good reading, lol.

Number 4...http://www.earthsky.org/ - very clean looking site with plenty to occupy young and older minds. It is primarily for teachers and students, but it is worth anybodys' time.
